A Friendly Global City
Cape Town sits at the very bottom of the African Continent, at the point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. Dominated by the massive Table Mountain, the city is surrounded by rocky heights and green valleys, many of which produce some of the world’s best wines. Along the shores of this city are beaches teeming with penguins, and waters filled with curious dolphins. Just a few hours from here the African savannah opens up, revealing elephants, lions, zebras and cheetahs.
Among all of the wild beauty lies Cape Town, the most modern and multicultural city in all of Africa. The high-rise buildings of downtown stretch out into the candy-colored townhouses of residential neighborhoods. Cape Town is a vibrant urban center, highlighted by the spirit of an open-minded and fun-loving people. Students enrolled in EF’s English courses in Cape Town frequently join locals on the beach to play volleyball or to share a braai, a traditional South African barbeque. A trip to Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was once held, immediately puts the city’s current prosperity into perspective.
